About Me

Mauricio Franco Artist

As a child I used to draw racecars with wide tyres, fog lights and vibrant colors. After finishing school I decided to study graphic design, as I discovered that expressing my visual creativity was something worth of doing as a living. I worked as editorial designer for over 25 years in my native Colombia and moved to Germany nine years ago, since then I have been painting as my main activity.

In my paintings I explore colors, shapes and reflections, my main themes are street and race cars. I see them as highly aesthetic elements that I want to celebrate and connect to joyful memories on the canvas.

I also paint ordinary objects like toys in colourful compositions. My works are visually striking ironies of the contemporary obsession with consumption and idolatry of pop culture.
