In this scene I painted the Mercedes 300 SLR from Stirling Moss at the piazza in Brescia the day before the Mille Miglia race in 1955. The painting showcases the quality of the shiny surfaces of the car, with a rather misterious grey atmosphere in sort of recreation of a vintage photo.

The start number 722 represented the hour of the departure 7:22 am. It is the fastest car ever at the Mille Miglia, the average speed was around 160 km/h. absolutely insane, at some stages the top speed was 270km/h. The record: 10 hours 7 minutes Brescia-Rome-Brescia, Stirling Moss and his Copilot Dennis Jenkinson only ate bananas during the race. Juan Manuel Fangio started earlier at 6:58 am and arrived second half an hour later.
The milestone this achievement represented to Mercedes Benz still lives today in motorsports history and the car is considered one of the most valuables in the world. It is beautifully exhibited at the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart-Germany.

Without doubt a great piece for art fans and Mercedes enthusiasts.
